Pakistan, Canada Discuss Regional Situation, Makkah Joint Defence Agreement

ISLAMABAD, 09 August 2026 (Kamran Raja): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand today, with the two leaders exchanging views on the regional situation, including the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. DPM/FM Ishaq Dar briefed Foreign Minister Anand on the essence of the agreement and the joint resolve of the three countries to contribute to regional peace, stability and security. They also discussed the evolving situation in the US-Iran context, while DPM/FM raised the situation in Occupied East Jerusalem, including the Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem recently held in Jordan. Appreciating their frequent exchanges, DPM/FM Ishaq Dar thanked Foreign Minister Anand for her recent visit to Pakistan. Both sides agreed to remain closely engaged on issues of shared interest.
