Makkah, 07 August , 2026 (Kamran Raja):At the gracious invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defence.The summit was hosted at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah, where Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud welcomed the two leaders. During the meeting, the leaders reviewed the strong and longstanding relations among Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, while discussing regional security, defence cooperation and other issues of mutual interest. Reaffirming their shared commitment to Islamic solidarity, strategic partnership and regional stability, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
The landmark agreement reflects the three nations’ collective resolve to strengthen their common security framework, enhance defence cooperation across all sectors, and promote peace, security and stability in the region and beyond. Under the agreement, any armed attack against one of the three member states will be regarded as an attack against all, reinforcing a framework of collective deterrence against external aggression. The agreement also provides for expanded cooperation in defence, military coordination, intelligence sharing, training and other areas of mutual strategic interest. The three leaders expressed confidence that the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement would usher in a new era of defence collaboration among the brotherly nations and contribute significantly to lasting peace, regional security and shared prosperity.
