Islamabad, 06 August, 2026 (Kamra Raja)The Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, called on the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. Upon his arrival, the Somali Defence Minister was warmly received by the Chief of the Naval Staff. During the meeting, both dignitaries held comprehensive discussions on matters of mutual professional interest, regional maritime security, and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its longstanding diplomatic and military relations with Somalia. He emphasized Pakistan’s desire to build a sustainable, long-term, and multifaceted partnership with Somalia, particularly in the fields of maritime security, defence collaboration, and professional military engagement. The Somali Defence Minister appreciated the Pakistan Navy’s proactive role and valuable contributions toward maintaining regional maritime security. He also acknowledged the professionalism and capabilities of the Pakistan Navy in promoting peace and stability in the region. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding bilateral defence cooperation and strengthening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, reflecting the friendly relations between Pakistan and Somalia.
