Islamabad,04 August , 2026(Ghufran): Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has stated that the federal government has no proposal under consideration to create new provinces, emphasizing that Pakistan’s existing parliamentary democratic system and the Constitution of 1973 continue to serve the country effectively. Speaking during an interview with a private television channel on Tuesday, Rana Sanaullah said that no meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had been held regarding the creation of new provinces and clarified that the matter is not part of the government’s current agenda.

He maintained that Pakistan’s parliamentary system and constitutional framework have successfully preserved the federation despite political challenges, military interventions, and periods of instability over the past five decades. According to him, the real issue lies not in the constitutional structure but in ensuring its implementation in its true spirit. Commenting on the ongoing elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Rana Sanaullah described the electoral process as free, fair, and transparent. He attributed the PML-N’s electoral performance to the public’s confidence in the party’s governance and development initiatives, particularly in Punjab.

He also expressed confidence that the PML-N would continue to perform strongly in the remaining phase of the elections and would be able to form the government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir without requiring coalition partners. Responding to criticism by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari regarding the electoral process, Rana Sanaullah said Bilawal was fully aware that the elections had been conducted fairly. He added that the PPP would ultimately accept the election results once the polling process was completed. Reiterating the government’s position, Rana Sanaullah stressed that strengthening democratic institutions depends on the consistent implementation of constitutional principles rather than structural changes to the existing system.
