Saudi Arabia Promotes Biotech Innovation at BIO Convention

San Diego, June 30, 2026(Kamran Raja): The King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC), in collaboration with the U.S.-Saudi Business Council, hosted a high-level meeting of biotechnology leaders on the sidelines of the BIO International Convention in San Diego, United States, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s expanding biotechnology ecosystem and its growing role as a global hub for life sciences innovation.

The event brought together leading researchers, industry executives, investors, and policymakers to explore opportunities for collaboration in biotechnology and healthcare innovation. It also promoted the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit (RGMBS 2026), which will be held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Investment.

Scheduled to take place in Riyadh from September 14 to 16, 2026, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the summit will bring together global leaders in biotechnology, medical research, healthcare, and investment.

KAIMRC presented Saudi Arabia’s biotechnology roadmap, highlighting progress in cell and gene therapy, biotechnology research, education, and the Kingdom’s expanding scientific infrastructure that supports innovation and the commercialization of research.

Chief Executive Officer of the U.S.-Saudi Business Council, Charles Hallab, underscored the vast opportunities for Saudi-U.S. cooperation in biotechnology, healthcare innovation, and life sciences investment.

“Through initiatives such as the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit, we are working to strengthen ties among innovators, institutions, and investors, and to support partnerships that advance scientific discovery, business growth, and improved health outcomes in both countries,” Hallab said.

The meeting offered BIO International Convention participants an opportunity to engage with Saudi stakeholders and gain insights into the Kingdom’s rapidly growing biotechnology sector ahead of RGMBS 2026.
