
Islamabad, June 3, 2026(Kamran Raja): The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Jiang Zaidong, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House today. The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister’s Adviser Dr. Syed Tauqir Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch. The Prime Minister conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, and recalled the highly productive, substantive, and outcome-oriented meetings held with the Chinese leadership during his recent visit to China.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring timely and effective implementation of the key understandings and decisions reached during the visit. He particularly highlighted the need to expand cooperation under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0), especially in the areas of agriculture, information technology, industrial development, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and mining and minerals. The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of expediting the implementation of various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies during the Business-to-Business (B2B) Investment Conference held in Hangzhou during his visit, so that the benefits of enhanced economic cooperation could be realized at the earliest. Appreciating Ambassador Jiang’s valuable contributions toward the success of his recent visit to China, the Prime Minister noted that the relevant institutions and authorities of both countries should now work closely together to translate the decisions and understandings reached by the two leaderships into tangible outcomes.
The two sides also discussed ways to accelerate progress on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) Realignment Project, enhance cooperation in security, counterterrorism, and defense, and advance matters related to Pakistan’s economic and financial support. They further exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and key international developments. Ambassador Jiang thanked the Prime Minister and extended his greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. He also congratulated the Prime Minister on the successful visit to China from 23–26 May 2026 and reaffirmed China’s commitment to further strengthening its iron-clad and enduring friendship with Pakistan and expanding bilateral cooperation across all sectors.
