Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Meets U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs

Islamabad, 12 February 2026(News Desk): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry held an important meeting with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Mr. John Mark Pomerleau. U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Ms. Natalie Baker, was also present on the occasion. The Federal Secretary Interior and other senior officials attended the meeting as well. During the meeting, the U.S. Assistant Secretary strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Quetta and expressed condolences to the victims and their families. Both sides exchanged views on Pakistan–U.S. bilateral relations and the evolving regional situation. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in counterterrorism, particularly in the area of internal security.

The two sides also agreed to promote investment and partnership in the mining, minerals, and energy sectors, recognizing the potential for expanded economic collaboration. Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that global cooperation is indispensable in the fight against terrorism. He noted that Pakistan’s relationship with the United States holds key importance in this regard. He welcomed increased U.S. investment in Pakistan’s mining, minerals, and energy sectors and reaffirmed that Pakistan believes in strong international partnerships to eliminate terrorism and promote investment. The Interior Minister assured that U.S. investors would be provided with a secure and conducive environment in Pakistan.

Assistant Secretary John Mark Pomerleau stated that the United States attaches great importance to its relationship with Pakistan and looks forward to strengthening cooperation across multiple areas of mutual interest.
