Rome, September 16, 2025(Ghufran): The Embassy of Pakistan in Italy hosted a landmark public event today, attended by Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Hon’able Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OPHRD), who is currently on a bilateral visit to Italy.
The proceedings commemorated Marka-e-Haq and Pakistan’s Defence Day, and also featured a Town Hall interaction with the Pakistani community in Italy. The program commenced with the Flag Hoisting ceremony.
In his welcome remarks, the Ambassador lauded the excellent contribution of the Pakistani diaspora in Italy, which stands at nearly 300,000.
Hon’able Minister highlighted the significance of Marka-e-Haq as a symbol of national unity, acknowledged the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people, and strongly condemned human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. Special prayers were also offered for the Shuhada of Marka-e-Haq and victims of the recent floods in Pakistan.
During his visit, the Minister inspected the Consular Section and interacted with visitors. He directed the Mission to reinitiate efforts for the establishment of Police Khidmat Markaz (PKM) across all four provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan. He also appreciated the Mission’s initiative to re-launch NADRA counters for facilitation of overseas Pakistanis.
The event was attended by nearly 150 participants, including community members, students, businessmen, and journalists, reflecting strong community engagement and solidarity.
