Pakistan Red Crescent Society Mobilizes Emergency Response Teams Amid Ongoing Monsoon Rains and Floods The Pakistan Times NewsIslamabad, August 19, 2025(Kamran Raja): Under the leadership of the Chairperson Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Mrs. Farzhana Naek, PRCS emergency response teams are actively providing immediate relief and assistance to communities affected by the ongoing monsoon rains, floods, and landslides across various regions of Pakistan.

Emphasizing PRCS’s humanitarian commitment, Mrs. Naek stated: Our emergency response teams have swiftly mobilized to support communities impacted by the ongoing monsoon rains and landslides across the country. PRCS teams are working tirelessly in close coordination with the government and district administrations to ensure timely relief and support to the affected population. PRCS emergency response teams are also on alert in areas identified as disaster-prone during the ongoing monsoon rains to ensure timely response and assistance to vulnerable communities.

In line with the Chairperson’s instructions, PRCS Secretary General Mr. Abaid Ullah Khan chaired a Movement Coordination Meeting at PRCS National Headquarters, Islamabad. The meeting was attended by representatives from Movement partners including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), German Red Cross, Norwegian Red Cross, British Red Cross, Turkish Red Crescent, as well as PRCS provincial branches from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Merged Areas, and Gilgit Baltistan.

The PRCS’s swift response during the ongoing monsoon spell has been widely acknowledged. IFRC Secretary General Mr. Jagan Chapagain, IFRC Regional Director for Asia Pacific Mr. Alexander Matheou, and the Netherlands Red Cross lauded PRCS efforts through their official social media platforms on X.

PRCS National Headquarters, in coordination with its provincial branches, continues to monitor the evolving situation and remains fully prepared to scale up relief operations with the support of Movement partners, government institutions, and other stakeholders to further strengthen disaster response and preparedness across the country.
