LAHORE, August 28, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) died during a training race at the Elite Force Training Centre on Bedian Road in Lahore on Thursday. According to police sources, ASI Syed Tasawar Shah of the Rawalpindi Patrolling Police died while participating in the race. Sources said he died due to extreme heat and high humidity. Another ASI, Muhammad Arshad, son of Muhammad Shafi, from the Sargodha Region, also fell ill during the training race and was shifted to a hospital for treatment, where he later died. His body was subsequently moved to the morgue.Police sources said another official also became seriously unwell during the race and was shifted to hospital for medical treatment. The incident occurred during a four-kilometre training race conducted in hot weather. The deaths of the two ASIs on the same day have raised concerns over the health and safety arrangements for personnel participating in strenuous training activities amid extreme weather conditions.
