Riyadh, 6 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday that three people sustained minor injuries after attacks targeted two airports in the southern part of the kingdom a day earlier, causing material damage. According to the General Authority of Civil Aviation, facilities at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport were targeted. Emergency teams and relevant authorities responded immediately, and the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Authorities are assessing the damage and taking measures to ensure the safety of passengers, employees and the country’s civil aviation system. The attacks were not officially attributed to any group, although Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for a series of missile and drone attacks on Monday targeting sites in Jazan, Najran and other parts of Saudi Arabia, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Abha Airport, an Aramco refinery in Rabigh and military installations. Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said its forces destroyed a depot in northwestern Saada province containing 20 ballistic missiles, as well as a ballistic missile launch site in Sanaa. Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki said the strikes also targeted weapons depots, explosive-laden boat storage facilities and naval mines in Yemen’s western Hodeidah province, while preparations for attacks against waterways in the southern Red Sea were also thwarted. The escalation comes amid renewed fighting in Yemen, where conflict has continued since the Houthi takeover of Sanaa in 2014 and the subsequent Saudi-led intervention in 2015.
