HRCP concludes National Roundtable on climate justice, calls for building a new social contract

A national roundtable on climate justice held by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has called for building a new social contract rooted in climate justice – the concept that climate change is an ethical, legal and political issue rather than solely environmental.Inaugurating the roundtable, HRCP’s secretary-general Harris Khalique noted how climate change impacts people’s lives and livelihoods. PAF WHITE BAGS THE WINNING TROPHY OF 31ST CAS CHALLENGE CUP POLO TOURNAMENT

 The exciting final of the 31st Chief of the Air Staff Challenge Cup Polo Tournament was played at the lush green Islamabad Polo Club. PAF White bagged the winners trophy by defeating PAF Blue with 5-1/2 to 5 goals.Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached to the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad to offer condolences on the death of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin. On arrival at the embassy, in a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, the Prime Minister expressed his condolences, deep sorrow and expressed regret.The Prime Minister said that the former Chinese President will always be remembered as a great leader. He said that the former president has a key role in strengthening China-Pakistan relations. Jiang Zemin's role in China's development is important.   Afghan Chargé d Affaires (a.i.) was called in this evening to convey Pakistan’s deep concern and anguish over the attack in Kabul on Pakistan Head of Mission, Mr. Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani.Additional Secretary (Afghanistan & West Asia)conveyed Pakistan’s grave concern over the serious incident in which, thankfully, the Head of Mission remained unhurt. However, the security detail, Sepoy Israr Muhammad, was seriously wounded while valiantly protecting the Head of Mission.
