By Raja kamran Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has directed FBR to expedite the auction of substantial number of non-cleared stranded vehicles at Karachi Port which were imported in violation of SRO issued by the Ministry of Commerce.The subject vehicles were imported under Personal Baggage, Transfer of Residence or under Gift Schemes. According to Customs Act, if goods are not cleared from the Port within twenty days of arrival these should be removed from the port and sold in auction. A Helpline will be setup under a pilot project UMANG for individuals who unfortunately fall into the habit of addiction and need help to connect to counselors, psychiatrists and psychologists. Federal Minister Muhammad Azam Khan Swati witnessed the ceremony. Secretary Narcotics Control Shoaib Dastgir and senior officials of the ministry were also present.
