Pakistan Appreciates Iraq’s Leadership and Calls for United Action on Global Development Challenges
New York, 24 September 2025(Kamran Raja): Pakistan expressed deep appreciation to the Republic of Iraq for its leadership of the Group of 77 and China during a year marked by significant challenges and important progress.
Highlighting a growing global development crisis, Pakistan noted that the financing gap to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has risen from $2.5 trillion in 2019 to over $4 trillion today. When factoring in climate action costs, this gap is even larger. Inequality, debt crises in over 100 countries, frequent climate disasters, geopolitical tensions, and a widening digital divide threaten global stability and progress.
