CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Directs Adoption of Modern Japanese Technology for Waste Treatment in Punjab
Japan, 18 August 2025(Kamran Raja): Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has announced that modern Japanese technology and methods will be adopted for sewage and waste management in Punjab. The announcement came during her visit to Japan’s largest wastewater treatment facilities. The Chief Minister inspected the advanced waste treatment systems in Asahi, Yokohama City, Kanagawa, Washimaku, and Yodogawa, where she was given detailed briefings on methods of garbage collection, wastewater management, and disposal systems. Officials informed the Chief Minister that Yokohama, Japan’s second largest city by population, treats 1.5 million liters of wastewater daily through its Solid Waste and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
