
Riyadh, 7 October, 2026 (Ghufran): Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed plans for Syria’s reconstruction and attracting Saudi investment during talks in Riyadh on Tuesday. The Syrian president also extended an official invitation to the Saudi Crown Prince to visit Syria. According to the Syrian presidency, the meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, with both sides discussing bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The talks focused on developing political, diplomatic and economic cooperation and strengthening relations across various fields. The two sides also reviewed strategic plans and upcoming phases of Syria’s reconstruction, including the rebuilding of infrastructure and vital facilities damaged during the country’s war. Discussions also focused on attracting “qualitative investments” to Syria and expanding the role of Syrian and Saudi businesses in the energy, construction, industrial, agricultural and trade sectors. Sharaa’s invitation to Mohammed bin Salman was described as an effort to build on the recent diplomatic rapprochement and open a new phase of Arab cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues. The two leaders also exchanged views on the latest regional developments and discussed matters of mutual concern, with the aim of supporting regional security and stability.
