Islamabad, 8 November, 2026 (Nosheen): Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has announced the release date of his upcoming film Maatrubhumi, which is scheduled to hit cinemas on December 4. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the 2020 military confrontation between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh. Explaining the delay in the film’s release, Salman Khan said the production team wanted to ensure high-quality visual effects (VFX) and graphics. He noted that VFX specialists closely examine every frame of a film, and the team wanted to avoid technical shortcomings while delivering visually impressive scenes to audiences. The actor also revealed that an injury to one of the film’s actresses affected the shooting schedule. The release was initially considered for January, followed by June and August, before being finalised for December. The film was originally titled Battle of Galwan but was later renamed Maatrubhumi. According to Indian media reports, Salman Khan portrays Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who was killed during the clash with Chinese troops. Salman Khan released the film’s teaser last year on the occasion of his 60th birthday. However, China’s state-run newspaper Global Times criticised the teaser, describing it as a distorted cinematic portrayal of the events.
