
Islamabad, July 13, 2026(Kamran Raja): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday received the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the MWL in the fields of religious dialogue, education, humanitarian initiatives, and the promotion of peace and tolerance.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Members of the National Assembly Ms. Farah Naz Akbar and Ms. Zeb Jaffar, and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch were also present during the meeting. Dr. Al-Issa was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, H.E. Nawaf Saeed Al Malky.
Welcoming Dr. Al-Issa, the Prime Minister thanked him for participating in the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women held in Islamabad on July 12–13.
The Prime Minister praised the Muslim World League for its outstanding contributions to promoting the true and moderate image of Islam, strengthening unity among the Muslim Ummah, and advancing the values of tolerance, fraternity, and interfaith harmony worldwide. He also commended Dr. Al-Issa’s visionary leadership in expanding the League’s global outreach and reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for its initiatives.
Highlighting the importance of the MWL’s efforts in promoting religious dialogue, the Prime Minister underscored the need for collective action to address the challenges confronting the Muslim world, including the evolving regional situation involving Iran and the brotherly Gulf states, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and other issues affecting Muslim communities across the globe.
The Prime Minister recalled Dr. Al-Issa’s previous visits to Pakistan and appreciated his significant contributions, particularly his role in hosting the International Summit on Girls’ Education in Islamabad. He expressed satisfaction over the growing partnership between Pakistan and the MWL in promoting education, interfaith harmony, countering extremism, and combating Islamophobia.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his respectful regards to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and extended his warm good wishes to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Dr. Al-Issa thanked the Prime Minister for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation and praised Pakistan’s leadership role in the Muslim world. He reaffirmed the Muslim World League’s commitment to further expanding cooperation with Pakistan in religious, educational, and humanitarian fields.
Appreciating Pakistan’s recent efforts to promote regional peace, Dr. Al-Issa commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his leadership and also acknowledged the valuable contributions of Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their tireless efforts in facilitating the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister thanked Dr. Al-Issa for his visit and both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to advance shared priorities and ensure the timely implementation of ongoing joint projects and initiatives between Pakistan and the Muslim World League.
