Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets President of the Constitutional Court of Türkiye Kadir Özkaya

Islamabad, April 7, 2026(Kamran Raja): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, Kadir Özkaya, who called on him along with a high-level delegation. The Prime Minister noted that the centuries-old fraternal relations between Pakistan and Türkiye are rapidly evolving into a comprehensive economic partnership. He emphasized that both countries can benefit from each other’s experiences to enhance access to justice for their citizens. Referring to the recent visit of the Turkish delegation, the Prime Minister stated that the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the visit marks an important first step toward strengthening cooperation in the judicial sector. He highlighted the significant potential for collaboration in the use of digital technologies to ensure the swift delivery of justice.

The Prime Minister further underscored that Pakistan and Türkiye can mutually benefit from sharing expertise in key areas including climate change, counter-terrorism, immigration, and the development and enforcement of laws. President Kadir Özkaya expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended during the visit and stated that the people of Türkiye hold deep affection for Pakistan. He noted that Türkiye’s Constitutional Court, with its 64 years of institutional experience, is ready to initiate a pilot project with Pakistan to share its expertise. The meeting was also attended by the judges of the Constitutional Court of Türkiye, Rıdvan Guleç and Recai Akyel, as well as the Ambassador of Türkiye to Pakistan, İrfan Neziroğlu. From the Pakistani side, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attorney General Mansoor Awan, Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were present.
