Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s Message on the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism

Islamabad, 12 February 2026(News Desk): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to continue its national struggle against all forms of extremism, terrorism, hatred, and violent ideologies with full determination. The Prime Minister stated that extremist and violent ideologies not only undermine peace and stability within societies but also erode fundamental human values such as tolerance, coexistence, mutual respect, and compassion. He emphasized that Pakistan has rendered unparalleled sacrifices over the past decades in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel and civilians stand as a proud testament to the nation’s steadfast commitment and resilience.

Highlighting the true teachings of Islam, the Prime Minister said that Islam is a religion of peace that promotes moderation, tolerance, dialogue, and respect for human life. He underscored the importance of equipping the youth with quality education, meaningful opportunities, and positive engagement to safeguard them against extremist narratives. The Prime Minister noted that social justice, economic inclusion, and interfaith harmony are the foundations of sustainable peace. In this context, he stressed that persistent injustices, protracted conflicts, and grave human rights violations across the world contribute to the rise of extremism and violence. Referring to long-standing unresolved disputes on the global stage, including in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, the Prime Minister expressed concern over state oppression and the denial of fundamental rights to innocent civilians. He urged the international community to take effective measures for the just and peaceful resolution of these enduring conflicts.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to work closely with the international community through collective strategies, cooperation, and partnerships to eliminate violent extremism and promote a just and peaceful global order. He concluded by calling upon the nation to renew its commitment to building a peaceful, secure, and harmonious society.
