Islamabad, August 27, 2025(Kamran Raja): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Mr. Taro Kato, Director General, Mining and Metal Finance Department of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). The Prime Minister underscored that Pakistan values its diplomatic and economic cooperation with Japan. He highlighted that both countries have enjoyed strong collaboration in the fields of industry and trade in the past and reaffirmed their shared resolve to renew and strengthen economic cooperation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured that the Government of Pakistan will extend all possible facilitation to Japanese investors and banks seeking to invest in Pakistan. He noted that Pakistan can greatly benefit from Japanese innovation and professional expertise, particularly in the fields of agriculture, IT, textiles, and other sectors.
The Prime Minister further emphasized that major international financial institutions and global investors are showing keen interest and extending cooperation in large-scale economic and development projects in Pakistan. He stated that Pakistan’s cost-effective labor market provides international investors with a competitive environment and reiterated the Government’s firm commitment to making Pakistan a safe and attractive destination for investment. Mr. Taro Kato expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for their warm hospitality. He conveyed JBIC’s keen interest in expanding cooperation and further enhancing the participation of Japanese investors and banks in Pakistan’s economic projects.
