Islamabad, 15 August 2025(Kamran Raja): A delegation of Challenge Fashion (Pvt) Ltd., led by its Chairman Mr. Huwang Weiguo, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan and China share a unique friendship that holds a distinguished place in the world, with both countries always standing by each other in every difficulty. He reaffirmed that the Government of Pakistan is committed to taking the Pakistan–China friendship to new heights and expressed satisfaction over the growing economic ties between the two countries. The Prime Minister welcomed the establishment of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) by Challenge Fashion Group in Pakistan, appreciating the Group’s confidence in the Pakistani market. He noted that the SEZ will facilitate technology transfer, skills development, and sustainable industrial growth, and directed that every possible facility be provided to the Group in this regard.
“We are determined to promote the industrial cooperation segment of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and wish to benefit from China’s expertise and advancement in the textile sector,” the Prime Minister said. He also announced that a China–Pakistan Business-to-Business Conference will soon be held in China, providing private enterprises from both countries with an opportunity for collaboration. Chairman Huwang Weiguo thanked the Prime Minister for Pakistan’s warm hospitality and briefed that Challenge Fashion Group has invested USD 17 million in Pakistan since 2014. He informed that the Group is setting up a modern textile industry and a Special Economic Zone in Pakistan. According to the briefing, the Special Economic Zone will attract an investment of USD 100 million over the next five years, with expected exports worth USD 400 million. Following the meeting, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Challenge Group Special Economic Zone.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal, Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting Atta Ullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Leghari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and senior government officials.
