Prime Minister Meets Indonesian Minister for Investment; Pakistan, Indonesia Agree to Accelerate CEPA by 2027

Islamabad, Tuesday, 11 February 2026(News Desk): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif  met a five-member delegation led by Indonesia’s Minister for Investment and Downstream Industries, H.E. Mr. Rosan Roeslani, in Islamabad. Welcoming the delegation, the Prime Minister underscored that Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy decades-old brotherly relations that continue to grow stronger with time. He conveyed his warm good wishes to the President of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Prabowo Subianto.

The Prime Minister noted that President Subianto’s visit to Pakistan last year proved highly productive and instrumental in further strengthening bilateral ties. He also recalled his meeting with the Indonesian President on the sidelines of the 58th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to deepening engagement at all levels. Emphasizing Pakistan’s desire to further enhance economic cooperation with Indonesia, the Prime Minister expressed keen interest in benefiting from Indonesia’s experience, particularly with regard to the sovereign wealth fund model. Minister Rosan Roeslani thanked the Prime Minister and the Government of Pakistan for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He conveyed good wishes from President Prabowo Subianto and reiterated Indonesia’s strong commitment to advancing bilateral relations.

Both sides agreed to intensify efforts to transform the existing Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) into a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by 2027. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar; Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan; Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb; Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani; Special Assistants to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and Haroon Akhtar; and senior government officials.
