Prime Minister Meets Emir of Qatar on Sidelines of Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha

Doha: 15 September 2025(Kamran Raja): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit convened in Doha following Israel’s recent attack on Qatar. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir were also present at the meeting. During their warm and cordial exchange, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s strongest condemnation of the Israeli strike on a residential area in Doha on 9 September, which resulted in loss of precious lives and injuries to several others. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support and solidarity with Qatar at this critical time, terming the Israeli attack a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a grave breach of international law.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan and Qatar’s fraternal ties were historic, longstanding and enduring, and would continue to grow stronger in the days ahead. He underscored that Israel’s aggression in the Middle East must be stopped immediately, stressing the importance of unity within the Ummah in the face of repeated provocations. In this regard, he deeply appreciated Qatar’s initiative to convene the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha. The Prime Minister further recalled that, at Qatar’s request, Pakistan had sought an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to deliberate on the deteriorating situation in the Middle East.

His Highness the Emir expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister’s participation in the Summit, as well as his visit to Doha on 12 September to express solidarity with Qatar. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact in view of the unfolding regional situation.
