Islamabad, 11 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Pakistani film actress Meera, whose real name is Syeda Irtiza Rubab, has been sent back to the United States after Canadian immigration authorities denied her entry at the Niagara border. According to reports, Meera was travelling from New York to Canada to attend a show when immigration officials detained her for several hours of questioning before sending her back to the US. The reasons behind the latest immigration action remain unclear. The actress had previously visited Calgary to promote her film Psycho and perform on stage. Meera has also faced immigration difficulties in the United Kingdom, where authorities previously denied her entry and imposed a 10-year ban following questioning at Heathrow Airport. Although the ban has expired, she reportedly continued to face difficulties obtaining a British visa. Her subsequent application was rejected after her travel agent allegedly submitted incorrect information, which British authorities treated as false representations. In July 2025, Meera publicly appealed to the British government for a visa to visit her sister, who was receiving cancer treatment in London. She said her family and home were in London and that the immigration dispute had prevented her from visiting them for several years. The actress, who holds a US Green Card, frequently travels to the United States for personal and professional engagements.
