Pakistan Successfully Launches Remote Sensing Satellite, Marking a New Era in Technological Advancement

Islamabad, July 31, 2025(Kamran Raja): In a landmark achievement for Pakistan’s space program and technological progress, the country has successfully launched its Remote Sensing Satellite (RSS) from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre (XSLC) in China. Developed and launched by SUPARCO (Pakistan’s national space agency), in close collaboration with China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) and MICROSAT China, the satellite marks a significant stride toward Pakistan’s goal of building a robust Earth observation capability. This achievement places Pakistan firmly among the growing ranks of space-faring nations committed to harnessing space technology for sustainable development.

The newly launched satellite is equipped with high-resolution, round-the-clock imaging capabilities, designed to support a wide array of national objectives. These include:

  • Urban planning and infrastructure development

  • Disaster management and mitigation

  • Agricultural monitoring and food security

  • Environmental protection and deforestation tracking

  • Climate change analysis

  • Water resource management

The satellite is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s integrated Earth observation system, aimed at enhancing national resilience and promoting socio-economic progress. It is expected to play a vital role in informed policymaking, resource management, and climate adaptation.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, congratulated the scientific and technical teams from SUPARCO, CETC, and MICROSAT China for their exemplary cooperation and tireless efforts.

“This successful launch is a testament to the vision, expertise, and dedication of our engineers and scientists,” said Senator Dar. “It is a proud moment for the nation as we reaffirm our commitment to innovation, international collaboration, and a secure and prosperous future.”
