Pakistan Security Forces Kill 12 Khwarij, Afghan Taliban Personnel in Foiled Infiltration Attempt in Kurram

Islamabad, 11 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Pakistan’s security forces killed 12 Khwarij and Afghan Taliban personnel while foiling an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Kurram district on October 10, according to a security statement. The statement said troops detected a group of Khwarij attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan and successfully thwarted the attempt. Afghan Taliban posts reportedly opened fire in support of the infiltrators, prompting a strong response from Pakistani troops. During the exchange of fire, 12 Khwarij and Afghan Taliban personnel were killed. Naib Subedar Hidayat Aman, 40, a resident of Ghizer district, embraced martyrdom while fighting gallantly against the infiltrators. The statement said the incident reinforced Pakistan’s concerns that the Afghan Taliban regime had failed to prevent terrorist organisations from using Afghan territory and had facilitated cross-border terrorism, in violation of its international counterterrorism obligations. Security forces have launched a sanitisation operation to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored Khwarij in the area. The statement further said that counterterrorism operations under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country. It added that the sacrifices of security personnel reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to protecting its sovereignty, borders and national security.
