ISLAMABAD, August 10, 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan received $3.631 billion in remittances from overseas Pakistanis in July 2026, registering an increase of around 5 percent month-on-month and 13 percent year-on-year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).Remittances stood at $3.475 billion in June 2026, while overseas Pakistanis sent $3.215 billion to Pakistan in July 2025, reflecting a significant increase over the corresponding month of the previous year.Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in July, with Pakistani workers sending $914 million home. Remittances from Saudi Arabia increased by 10 percent compared with the previous month and 11 percent compared with July 2025.The United Arab Emirates was the second-largest source, contributing $737 million during the month. Pakistan also received $555 million from the United Kingdom and $317 million from the United States.

According to the SBP data, remittances from other Gulf countries amounted to $462 million in July 2026.Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the receipt of $3.6 billion in remittances during July and expressed satisfaction over the 13 percent year-on-year increase.The prime minister said the rise in remittances reflected the continued contribution of overseas Pakistanis to the country’s economy. He also noted that remittances increased by around 4.5 percent on a monthly basis in July.Shehbaz Sharif described overseas Pakistanis as a valuable part of the national economic framework and appreciated their continued role in supporting economic stability and growth.He said the government would continue taking measures to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and address the issues they face.
