Karachi, 31 July, 2026 (Kamran Raja) Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) TAIMUR successfully conducted a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation, rescuing the stranded fishing vessel FV AL JALALI in the North Arabian Sea after it suffered engine failure approximately 120 nautical miles south of Gwadar. The fishing vessel, carrying 19 crew members, including 11 Pakistani and 8 Iranian nationals, was left stranded at sea following an engine malfunction. The situation became increasingly critical due to deteriorating weather conditions associated with the ongoing monsoon season, posing an immediate threat to the lives of those onboard.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) swiftly coordinated with Pakistan Navy to launch an immediate Search and Rescue operation. In response, PNS TAIMUR was promptly tasked to proceed to the distressed vessel and provide the necessary assistance. Demonstrating exceptional professionalism and operational readiness, PNS TAIMUR successfully reached the stranded vessel and provided the crew with food, drinking water, and medical assistance. The disabled fishing vessel was subsequently taken under tow and safely escorted towards the shore. The successful rescue operation reflects Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding human life at sea and underscores its capability and preparedness to respond promptly to maritime emergencies.
