
Islamabad, July 17, 2026(Ghufran): Pakistan successfully hosted the Twelfth Meeting of the Heads of Border Services of the Competent Authorities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States in Islamabad on Friday, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing regional cooperation on border security, counterterrorism, and the management of emerging cross-border challenges.
Chaired by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the meeting brought together heads and representatives of the border services from Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS).
The participants reviewed the prevailing security situation along the international borders of SCO Member States and exchanged assessments on current trends, future challenges, and measures aimed at strengthening coordinated border management across the region.
During the meeting, the participants approved the outcomes of the Joint Border Operation “Solidarity-2025”, recognizing its contribution to strengthening operational coordination among the border services of SCO Member States.
The meeting also endorsed the plan for the preparation and conduct of Joint Border Operation “Solidarity-2026”, reflecting the shared commitment of SCO countries to enhancing collective border security and addressing transnational threats through coordinated action.
In addition, the participants approved the 2027 Work Plan of the Group of Experts of the Border Services of the Competent Authorities of the SCO Member States and supported the proposal of the Republic of Tajikistan to host Joint Border Operation “Solidarity-2027”.
Delegates further discussed proposals regarding the venue and schedule of the next meeting of the Heads of Border Services of the Competent Authorities of the SCO Member States.
The participants emphasized that continued exchange of information, experience, and coordinated approaches to addressing emerging border security challenges would further strengthen cooperation among SCO Member States, promote mutual trust, and contribute to peace, stability, and security across the region.
The meeting concluded in a constructive and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the shared resolve of SCO Member States to deepen collaboration in safeguarding their common borders and enhancing regional security.
