
Rawalpindi, 06 April 2026(Kamran Raja): Pakistan–Egypt Joint Exercise Thunder-II, a bilateral counter-terrorism exercise between the armies of Pakistan and Egypt, commenced on 06 April 2026 at the Special Operations School, Cherat.
The two-week-long exercise brings together troops from the Special Services Group (SSG) of the Pakistan Army and Special Forces of the Egyptian Army. The Commandant Special Operations School, Cherat, graced the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest.
The exercise aims to enhance professional skills through joint training and to further strengthen the longstanding military-to-military relations between the two brotherly countries. During the exercise, participating troops will engage in a range of counter-terrorism drills and operational scenarios.
The joint training is expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to benefit from the exchange of mutual experiences and expertise, particularly in the conduct of counter-terrorism operations.
Pakistan and Egypt enjoy strong bilateral defence ties, and such exercises are a testament to the shared commitment of both countries towards regional peace and stability.
