Islamabad, July 22, 2026(Kamran Raja): The Government of Pakistan has unequivocally condemned the continued threats issued by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea, describing such actions as a serious threat to regional security, freedom of navigation, and the rules-based maritime order.
Pakistan stated that threats targeting commercial shipping and lawful trade with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are unacceptable and constitute a violation of established principles of international law. The Government expressed particular concern over reports of threats directed at vessels engaged in legitimate commercial trade with the Kingdom.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding national interests, Pakistan emphasized that any hostile act against Pakistani-flagged vessels or Pakistan’s maritime interests would be regarded as a grave threat to the country’s national security and sovereign interests. In accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law, Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary measures, including the lawful use of force in self-defence, to protect its maritime assets and national interests.
Pakistan also voiced deep concern over attempts to draw the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia into the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and reiterated its unwavering support for the security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and prosperity of the brotherly Kingdom.
While reaffirming its steadfast commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and regional de-escalation, Pakistan called upon all parties to respect international law and ensure the safety and security of international maritime shipping.
