Pakistan, China Reaffirm Strong Partnership; Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Energy and Mineral Sectors

Islamabad, November 19, 2025(Kamran Raja): Federal Minister for Petroleum, Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik, and H.E. Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, reaffirmed the unwavering strength of the Pakistan-China partnership during a meeting held at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad. The two sides discussed avenues to deepen cooperation in the energy and mineral sectors, emphasizing mutual support, economic collaboration, and a shared vision for regional stability and prosperity.

Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik extended a formal invitation to China for participation in the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum (PMIF) 2026. Highlighting the mining sector as a national priority, he noted that it offers significant opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong warmly welcomed the invitation and assured China’s active participation. “We will encourage the heads of our relevant institutions to participate in the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum,” he stated. He underscored mining as a key area of collaboration, noting the strong presence of Chinese companies such as MCC and CNOC in Pakistan’s petroleum and mineral sectors. He highlighted the importance of projects like Saindak and Siadak, which stand as key Chinese contributions to Pakistan’s mineral development.

Minister Malik expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for China’s steadfast support during a challenging economic period. Reiterating Pakistan’s principled stance alongside China, he affirmed Pakistan’s firm support for China’s sovereignty and regional stability.

Ambassador Jiang commended Pakistan’s ongoing reform agenda, describing it as a positive step toward sustainable development. “We are committed to supporting Pakistan’s development and will continue to facilitate the economic progress of the people of Pakistan through our cooperation,” he said.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to transforming the all-weather strategic partnership into greater investment, growth, and shared prosperity, with a particular focus on the promising mining and energy sectors.
