BISHKEK, 1 September, 2026 (Ghufran): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for the sincere implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and Iran in June 2026, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable way to promote peace and stability in the region. DPM/FM Ishaq Dar made these remarks during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting in Bishkek on Tuesday. During the meeting, Ishaq Dar underscored that sincere implementation of the Islamabad MoU by both the United States and Iran was essential to bringing an end to the ongoing conflict. He emphasized that dialogue and diplomatic engagement were crucial for resolving differences and ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region. The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments and matters of mutual interest, reaffirming the importance of continued diplomatic efforts to address emerging challenges. Separately, DPM/FM Ishaq Dar met with Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting. During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed the close and growing Pakistan-Uzbekistan partnership and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across all areas of mutual interest. Both sides expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral engagement and exploring new avenues of cooperation for the mutual benefit of Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
