Pakistan and Türkiye Reaffirm Strong Defence Partnership During Visit of Commander Turkish Land Forces: ISPR

Rawalpindi, 11 June 2026(Kamran Raja): General Metin Tokel, Commander of Turkish Land Forces, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi today.

Upon arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented a smartly turned-out Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual professional interest, regional security dynamics, and avenues for further enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and appreciated the enduring defence partnership between the armed forces of the two brotherly countries.

As part of his engagements, General Metin Tokel also visited Naval Headquarters (NHQ), Islamabad, where he called on Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of Naval Staff. The two dignitaries exchanged views on matters of professional interest and the prevailing regional maritime security environment.

The Commander of Turkish Land Forces also called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Air Staff, at Air Headquarters (AHQ), Islamabad. Discussions focused on bilateral military cooperation and issues of mutual professional interest.

The visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their significant contributions towards regional peace and stability. He also expressed his commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation and institutional linkages between the armed forces of Pakistan and Türkiye.

The visit reflects the shared resolve of Pakistan and Türkiye to further deepen their longstanding brotherly relations and expand cooperation across defence and security domains.
