Türkiye, 30 July 2026(Kamran Raja): Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi held an important meeting with Mustafa Özdöner, Director General of TCDD Teknik, and his team at the Eryaman Monitoring Centre in Türkiye. The meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan–Türkiye cooperation in the railway sector, with particular emphasis on modern technology, digital transformation, and technical collaboration.
During the visit, the Federal Minister reviewed Türkiye’s advanced experience in train operations, traffic management systems, modern signalling infrastructure, Centralized Traffic Control (CTC), and digital railway solutions. Both sides agreed to leverage Türkiye’s successful model in modern signalling, centralized traffic control, and digital railway operations to support the ongoing modernization of Pakistan Railways.
The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in technical training, exchange of expertise, and capacity-building programmes for railway professionals from both countries, aimed at enhancing institutional knowledge and operational efficiency.
The meeting further explored emerging areas of collaboration, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), predictive analytics, and smart railway technologies to improve safety, efficiency, and real-time decision-making in railway operations.
In the context of the modernization of Main Line-1 (ML-1) and Main Line-3 (ML-3), discussions were held on the development of an advanced centralized traffic management system. The proposed system is expected to significantly improve operational safety, streamline train movement, and introduce greater technological integration across the network.
Federal Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi expressed strong interest in benefiting from Türkiye’s expertise in railway safety systems, emergency response mechanisms, and efficient train operation practices.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Pakistan and Türkiye to further strengthen their longstanding brotherly relations through enhanced technical cooperation, modern innovation, and sustained exchange of expertise in the railway sector.
