
St. Petersburg, Russia-October 2025(News Desk): Federal Minister for Petroleum, Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik, undertook a significant visit to Russia, where he participated in the 14th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF) 2025 and held a series of high-level meetings aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in the oil, gas, and minerals sectors.
Leading the Pakistani delegation at the prestigious global energy event, Minister Malik addressed a high-level plenary session titled “Gas Market 2025–2035: New Contours in a Fast-Moving Environment.” He presented Pakistan’s comprehensive energy sector reforms and outlined the investor-friendly policies introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable growth and international collaboration.
On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Malik held a pivotal meeting with Mr. Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Russian energy giant Gazprom. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation between Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Gazprom, with a focus on exploration, technology exchange, and energy infrastructure development.
The Minister also met senior officials from Rusgeo (the Russian Geological Survey Company) and Nedra Digital (a leading AI energy company) to explore opportunities for Russian investment in Pakistan’s mineral and energy sectors.
In addition, Minister Malik held a productive meeting with H.E. Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye, to discuss regional energy collaboration and joint ventures.
Highlighting Pakistan’s strategic focus on attracting global capital, Minister Malik formally invited international investors to participate in the upcoming Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum, underscoring the country’s emergence as a prime destination for resource sector investment.
The visit marks an important milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen energy diplomacy and broaden international partnerships in pursuit of energy security and economic growth.
