8 September 2025(Ghufran): Pakistan and China have taken a major step toward deepening bilateral cooperation in the information technology sector with the signing of nine Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the second Pakistan-China B2B Conference held in China. Among the most significant agreements were three landmark Government-to-Business (G2B) and Business-to-Business (B2B) partnerships with Huawei Technologies, focusing on accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation:
NTC–Huawei Partnership for Fiberization & Secure Connectivity
Huawei Technologies and NTC Pakistan signed an agreement to accelerate fiberization and strengthen secure government connectivity infrastructure. The initiative will modernize Pakistan’s digital ecosystem, ensuring robust, high-speed communications across public institutions. In collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the program will also be rolled out across 15 universities, reinforcing Huawei’s pivotal role in building Pakistan’s digital future.Youth Training in AI & Cybersecurity
Huawei signed an MoU with the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) to launch a specialized training program in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. The program will equip 1,500 participants with globally recognized certifications in Cloud Computing, AI, and 5G Technologies—supporting the Prime Minister’s “Skills for Productive Employment” vision.Huawei–Sky47 Sovereign Cloud Collaboration
Huawei also partnered with Sky47, Pakistan’s first purpose-built, AI-ready sovereign cloud data center. The collaboration will enable secure cloud services, scalable AI deployments, and compliance with Pakistan’s Cloud First Policy—ensuring digital sovereignty and data residency within the country.
In addition to Huawei, other MoUs were signed with Alibaba International Digital Commerce, China Submarine Cable Construction Company Limited (CSCC), Guodong Group, and a strategic agreement between the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and Shanghai Lingang International Data Industry Institute (SHLID).
These agreements mark a milestone in the Pakistan-China digital partnership, unlocking new avenues for innovation, investment, and human capital development. By combining technological expertise with policy support, both countries reaffirm their commitment to advancing digital connectivity, skills development, and sustainable IT growth.
