New York, 31 July 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, held consultations with representatives of U.S.-based Pakistani home textile companies to discuss measures aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s textile exports and improving the industry’s competitiveness in the American market. The meeting, held at the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, was attended by Consul General Aamer Ahmed Atozai, Trade and Investment Counsellor Adnan Mahmood Awan, and representatives from leading Pakistani home textile companies operating in the United States, including DLI, Yunus Textile Mills, Sky Home USA, and Swiss n Scott. During the meeting, participants discussed key challenges affecting Pakistan’s home textile exports to the United States. They highlighted issues such as high electricity tariffs, competitive incentives offered by regional countries, and the importance of consistent and stable government policies to improve Pakistan’s position in the global textile market.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh assured participants that the Government of Pakistan remains committed to supporting exporters and strengthening the country’s export sector. He invited the industry representatives to submit consolidated recommendations, which would be forwarded to the relevant authorities in Pakistan for consideration. The meeting also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Home Textiles Market Week 2026, with participants expressing confidence that the event would provide valuable opportunities to showcase Pakistan’s high-quality textile products and expand business partnerships in the U.S. market. The ambassador reaffirmed the importance of close collaboration between the government and the private sector, emphasizing that sustained engagement with industry stakeholders is essential to boosting exports, attracting investment, and enhancing Pakistan’s economic growth. The participants appreciated the Embassy and Consulate’s continued support for Pakistani businesses in the United States and expressed their commitment to working closely with the government to further strengthen Pakistan’s presence in the global home textile market.
