LAHORE, 7 September, 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan Air Force Day is being observed today to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and commemorate their courage, bravery and sacrifices in defending the country’s airspace and sovereignty. On September 7, 1965, PAF personnel wrote a historic chapter of courage and professional excellence during the war, successfully defending Pakistan against the enemy’s numerical superiority through exceptional operational preparedness and combat strategy. Under the leadership of Air Commodore Sajjad Haider, several enemy aircraft were destroyed on the ground during the attack on Pathankot Air Base, while on the Sargodha front, Squadron Leader MM Alam shot down five enemy aircraft in less than a minute. The bravery and professional record of the PAF remain a proud chapter in Pakistan’s history, while its discipline, preparedness and commitment to national defence have earned the trust of the nation. The PAF has also played a significant role in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, with its operational readiness and professional capabilities contributing to the protection of Pakistan’s sovereignty and airspace. On the occasion, the nation pays tribute to the martyrs and ghazis whose sacrifices continue to inspire future generations and stands united with the armed forces in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Special prayers are also offered for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs, the well-being of veterans and the success and safety of PAF officers and personnel.
