ISLAMABAD, 8 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad Ali Waseem has assumed charge of his office and outlined law enforcement, protection of citizens and improved service delivery as his key priorities. Soon after assuming charge, DIG Waseem chaired an introductory meeting attended by SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Investigation Suleman Zafar, SSP Security and Administration Muhammad Shehryar Khan, zonal SPs, circle SDPOs and SHOs. The DIG also met the officers individually and discussed professional and policing matters. Speaking at the meeting, Ali Waseem said upholding the law, protecting the lives and property of citizens and ensuring quality service delivery would remain the top priorities of Islamabad Police. “No one is above the law,” he said, directing officers to perform their duties responsibly and effectively. He made it clear that misuse of uniform or authority would not be tolerated under any circumstances, while merit, performance and professional competence would be given priority. DIG Waseem further said negligence in duty or violation of law would invite action without discrimination. Officers demonstrating outstanding performance would be encouraged and rewarded, while negligent officials would face disciplinary action. He directed all officers to work as a team to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of citizens across the federal capital. He also ordered effective action against crime and indiscriminate enforcement against lawbreakers. Ali Waseem has previously served in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in various capacities.
