ISLAMABAD, 27 August, 2026 (News Desk): Senior Pakistani actor Nauman Ijaz has revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 and said reciting Surah Rahman played a significant role in helping him recover from the illness. In a recent interview, the veteran actor opened up about his battle with cancer and recalled the difficult period following his diagnosis. He said doctors had diagnosed a tumour near his ear in 2024. Recalling the day he received the diagnosis, Nauman Ijaz said he looked towards the sky during prayer and told Allah that he had never wronged anyone or deprived anyone of their rights. He said he prayed that if his purpose in the world had been fulfilled, Allah should call him back, adding that he did not want to see his family suffer. The actor said he also prayed that he would not have to make repeated visits to hospitals or undergo painful procedures such as chemotherapy. He revealed that he would read extensively every night and go to sleep hoping that he would not wake up the following morning. Nauman Ijaz said that after news of his cancer became known, a close friend advised him to recite Surah Rahman. He said he continued reciting the Surah from that day onward and believes it played a major role in his recovery and survival.He further revealed that he subsequently underwent a successful operation, during which the tumour was removed. According to the actor, his first chemotherapy session had been scheduled for July 23, 2024. However, doctors contacted him on July 22 and informed him that they could find no remaining signs of the disease, meaning chemotherapy was no longer required.
