ISLAMABAD, 30 September, 2026 (Ghufran): A solo exhibition titled “Textures of Emotions” by renowned artist Mobina Zuberi opened at Gallery 6, showcasing 27 recent and selected works that explore different dimensions of human emotions through figurative and abstract art. The exhibition brings together two important aspects of Zuberi’s artistic practice — her evocative portrayals of women and her abstract compositions. Her figurative paintings capture women in ordinary yet emotionally charged moments, often portraying introspection, stillness and quiet anticipation through gestures, poses, facial expressions and contours. Rather than focusing on conventional ideas of feminine beauty, the artist explores the inner world of memories, thoughts, desires and personal experiences. Zuberi’s distinctive drawing technique and sensitive handling of paint and surface add emotional depth to her works, transforming seemingly fleeting moments into lasting visual impressions. Her abstract compositions use shape, colour, space, texture and movement to express moods and feelings, while the tactile qualities of Nepalese handmade paper contribute additional visual and sensory dimensions to several works. Unlike the figurative paintings, the abstract pieces do not lead viewers towards a specific narrative, instead allowing them to engage intuitively and interpret the works through their own memories, associations and imagination. Zuberi’s artistic journey began in the 1970s and has developed over several decades through diverse subjects, styles and techniques, with paintings of women and abstract works becoming particularly prominent in her practice during the past decade. “Textures of Emotions” brings these two strands of her work together, highlighting the central role of emotion in her artistic expression through the human figure as well as through colour, form and texture. Collectively, the 27 works invite viewers to look beyond the immediately visible and engage with subtle emotions that can remain with them long after their encounter with the artworks.
