Karachi has been ranked first among the most polluted cities in the world, while Lahore is second in the list. According to Air Quality Index on Wednesday (December 28), Karachi, the largest city and economic hub of the country, ranked first among the most polluted cities in the world. The amount of polluted particles in the air of Karachi was recorded at 254 tactual meters. Similarly, the second largest city of the country, Lahore, is also ranked second in the list of the most polluted cities in the world.
According to environmental experts, if the air quality index in the atmosphere is from 0 to 50, then the environment can be said to be good, this means that air pollution is negligible. If the AKI is between 51 and 100, the pollution is considered non-hazardous, but if the same reading is between 101 and 150, the air is considered hazardous for sensitive people. Similarly, an AKI reading of 151 to 200 means that the environment is completely unhealthy, an AKI between 200 and 300 means that the air is highly polluted and hazardous to live in. While an AQI of more than 300 would be considered the most dangerous.
