Iran’s Pezeshkian Blames US for Failure of Interim Deal, Calls for Renewed Efforts

Islamabad, 25 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has blamed the United States for the failure of an interim agreement with Iran but called for renewed efforts to finalise the deal. In remarks broadcast on Iranian state television on Saturday, Pezeshkian said negotiations had been underway before the United States disrupted the process. “We were having negotiations, the cowards (Americans) messed everything up,” he said, adding that he still believed both sides should make another attempt to conclude the agreement. His remarks signal Tehran’s willingness to resume efforts toward an interim understanding despite its criticism of Washington over the previous negotiations. However, no further details were provided regarding the timing or framework of a possible renewed attempt.
