LAHORE, 21 September, 2026 (Nosheen): Two sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, have been detained for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) on the orders of the Lahore deputy commissioner. The detention was carried out on a police recommendation amid concerns over a possible threat to public order. Sources said Uzma and Noreen were detained along with their nephews from the residence of their sister Aleema Khan and were later shifted in an armoured vehicle. The detentions come as PTI prepares for nationwide demonstrations, including a planned march towards Islamabad on September 27, seeking the release of Imran Khan and the supremacy of the Constitution. Earlier, Aleema Khan’s two sons, Shahrez Khan and Sher Shah, were also detained in Lahore but were later released after a brief period in custody, according to their lawyer Rana Mudassir. Mudassir said Noreen and Uzma were shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail at around 2am. Aleema Khan was also reportedly detained on Sunday and later transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan condemned the detention of Aleema Khan and described it as the first step towards worsening the situation.
