Islamabad, 24 September, 2026 (Ghufran): Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja inaugurated Huawei’s first national-level Spare Parts Repair Center in Islamabad to strengthen Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure, enhance local repair capabilities and reduce reliance on overseas services. Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun was also present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Shaza Fatima said Digital Nation Pakistan aims to develop a skilled, future-ready workforce capable of competing in global markets. She said Pakistan is transitioning from a technology consumer to a creator, developer and exporter of digital solutions. The minister appreciated Huawei’s investment, knowledge transfer and commitment to local capacity building, saying the initiative would strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem. Ethan Sun said Huawei was proud to partner with Pakistan in developing sustainable technical expertise and translating global technology into local capabilities. The center offers repair, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance services for telecom equipment, with 16 specialized repair desks supporting more than 180 equipment codes across wireless, microwave, digital power and access-network technologies. Staffed by over 10 locally trained specialists, the facility can process more than 10,000 modules annually and return over 6,000 repaired components to service, with an average success rate of approximately 60 percent. The center is expected to reduce repair costs, accelerate maintenance, strengthen network resilience and ensure continuity of telecom services during emergencies and routine operations.
