Islamabad, 25 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched widespread attacks across southern Saudi Arabia on Sunday as the kingdom announced the partial reopening of Riyadh’s international airport despite repeated strikes by the group. Alerts warning of potential attacks were activated across southern Saudi Arabia throughout the day, while the Saudi-led military coalition said it had intercepted at least 10 ballistic missiles. Saudi Arabia, which leads a military coalition fighting the Houthis, has faced an increasing barrage of attacks in recent weeks following the collapse of a years-long truce between the rebels and Yemen’s government. A resident of Khamis Mushait described the bombardment as particularly intense, saying explosions had caused buildings to shake. Meanwhile, Riyadh’s international airport announced that flights would resume on Sunday after a two-week closure following Houthi attacks, although the extent of its operations remained unclear. The Houthis have carried out several waves of strikes targeting the airport, including an attack earlier this month that killed 13 people and wounded more than 300, marking the deadliest assault in Saudi Arabia in over a decade. The group has also targeted oil infrastructure and other strategic sites. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree warned that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh remained unsafe and constituted a military target. He urged international, regional and local airlines, airport staff and passengers to avoid using the facility, warning that the Saudi regime would bear responsibility for any consequences arising from operations at the airport.
