Free Proof of Life Certificate Facility for Pensioners

Free Proof of Life Certificate Facility for Pensioners

Islamabad, 21 August, 2026(Kamran Raja): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), on the special directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has introduced a free facility for pensioners to obtain their Proof of Life certificates through multiple channels. Pensioners can now obtain their Proof of Life certificates from the comfort of their homes through the Pak ID mobile application. Pensioners who are unable to use the mobile application can have a family member obtain the certificate on their behalf. The free Proof of Life facility is also available at 5,000 e-Sahulat franchises, while certificates can be obtained free of charge from 988 NADRA registration centres and 500 Union Councils. Pensioners will be provided services on a priority basis at NADRA centres and Union Councils. The facility has also been extended through Mobile Registration Vans, Biker Service and Main Pack Service, providing additional options for pensioners who may face difficulties in accessing conventional service points. The initiative has been developed through collaboration among the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, Controller General of Accounts (CGA) and Military Accountant General (MAG).

NADRA has also established a National Pensioners’ Register for pensioners of CGA and MAG. The register will serve as an authenticated digital source for verifying pensioners’ identities and their Proof of Life status. Under the new system, if the death of a pensioner is recorded through the Death Notification Tool or Civil Registration Management System (CRMS), the relevant pension controller will automatically be informed. Similarly, changes in the age or marital status of secondary or family pensioners will also be communicated to the concerned authorities. The decision to continue, modify or discontinue a pension will remain with the relevant authorized pension authority. Authorized banks will be able to directly verify a pensioner’s Proof of Life status through the National Pensioners’ Register. The digital verification system is expected to reduce the need for pensioners to make repeated personal visits and submit physical documentation for pension-related verification.NADRA will also gradually include pensioners of other government and private institutions in the National Pensioners’ Register, further expanding the scope of the digital pension verification system.
