Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik Highlights Pakistan’s Energy Transition and Critical Minerals Potential at IMARC 2025

Sydney, 21 October 2025(Nosheen): Federal Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division) Ali Pervaiz Malik delivered a keynote address titled “Pakistan’s Energy Transition and Critical Minerals Development: Unlocking New Frontiers for Global Partnership” at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) 2025, held in Sydney, Australia.

In his keynote speech, the Minister underscored Pakistan’s vast mineral wealth and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing a low-carbon, climate-resilient future. He outlined Pakistan’s vision of responsibly developing its geological resources to align economic growth with environmental sustainability, positioning the country as a proactive contributor to the global clean energy transition.

Highlighting a key global imbalance, the Minister noted that while Pakistan contributes less than one percent to global greenhouse gas emissions, it remains among the countries most severely affected by climate change. He stressed that Pakistan’s energy transition is an imperative, not an option—vital for ensuring water and food security, economic resilience, and climate adaptation.

Ali Pervaiz Malik invited international investors and partners to explore Pakistan’s emerging opportunities in renewable energy and critical minerals. He emphasized that strong political will, investor-friendly reforms, and abundant untapped resources make Pakistan a compelling destination for responsible global investment. The Minister also highlighted Pakistan’s ambitious renewable energy targets, incentive-driven policies, and significant critical mineral reserves as key pillars of future collaboration.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister met with the Director General (Minerals), Government of Western Australia, who briefed him on the strategic role of the mining sector in Australia’s economy. The Minister invited Australian companies to invest in Pakistan’s mining and minerals development sectors, emphasizing the mutual benefits of deeper bilateral cooperation in sustainable resource management.
